| We are working on behalf one of the UK's biggest and most reputable roofing and consultancy contractors with the objective of recruiting a Business Development Advisor who will cover the Merseyside. The role will be based out of their St Helens office. Our client has enjoyed 20 years of growth and has a clearly defined vision for the future. The company continues to differentiate itself from all competitors by being distinct, by being the first and striving to be the best.
The company operates extremely stringent compliance procedures which is why they have a multitude of blue chip clients which include Network Rail, Bovis and Scottish Power but to name a few.
They have won many awards over the years including ’Roofing Contractor of the Year Award Winners’ and ’Contractor of the Year 2008’.
They are accredited ISO9001:2000, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 and boast their own training academy whilst also being a Trade Member of the National Federation of Roofing Contractors.
The basic objective of this role is to develop profitable and sustainable business from targeted territory by identifying clients and projects for conversion. Relationship building within building surveying, architectural, local authority, education, healthcare, utilities, industrial and commercial sectors. New account development is a priority.
Essential criteria includes: Demonstrable achievement of sales generation in a roofing/cladding/construction services environment with the ability to accurately compile technical reports, site surveys and measurements. Essential understanding of risk assessments, H&S plans and handovers to contracts staff. Self organisation, influencing, communication and presentation skills alongside a sound marketing/sales understanding is important. Working at heights allied with competency in numeric detail, literacy and ‘Microsoft Office’ is essential. Strategic appreciation necessary.
Key Tasks include:
1. Develop and implement an annual marketing plan for territory.
2. Achieve profit targets which have been agreed with Operations Director.
3. Organise and participate in all sales and marketing campaigns within the financial year aimed at raising profile of company and increasing sales.
4. Identify and convert key prospects into business as agreed with Operations Director with the priority being Power accounts.
5. Develop effective site surveys and reports including taking core samples, compiling photographic evidence, conclusions, site measurements and various priced specification alternatives.
6. Compile method statements, risk assessments and H&S plans for handover to operations/contract staff.
7. Compliance with: Site Effectiveness Procedure, investigation of customer complaints, company policies & procedures, mission statement and core values, inter-departmental working and presentations.
8. Continuous personal development in knowledge, skills, attitudes including company products and services.
Leadership
9. Ensure optimum utilisation of BDA activity for future weeks in line with agreed targets, i.e. 20% objectives.
10. Coordinate and ensure standards of monthly reporting for monthly Council of Advisors meeting.
11. Ongoing monitoring & review of quality & quantity of enquiries.
12. Strategic input for territory plans for team on an annual basis.
13. Performance management input for BDA team to Operations Director including appraisal, training & development, disciplinary and grievance issues.
14. Support BDA team in compilation and presentation of major client proposals including technical aspects.
Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality procedures
• Adherence to Company Policies and Site rules.
• CSCS Qualified.
• PPE compliance
• Compliance with IMS reporting procedures
• Conduct Site Effectiveness on every site visit including SC09 documentation.
• Proactively promote all Health, Safety and Welfare matters.
• Has good working knowledge of ’Health & Safety’ regulations.
• Promote ’Brothers Keeper’ philosophy
• Identifies potential risks during Site Visits and Surveys and take action as necessary.
• Understand the environmental impact of work activities and conformance to environmental policy and procedures within IMS system.
