| Job Title: Network operations Engineer, Telecommunications, Hampshire |

The Company - Our Client: Our client is a leading edge Tier 1 internet and telephony solutions company, providing organisations with advanced, feature rich services. They are currently looking for a Network operations Engineer to be based from their offices in Hampshire.
The Role - Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide technical support through system implementation, database administration, configuration and remote troubleshooting. • Respond to tickets assigned by the service desk, and adhere to SLAs and escalation processes. • Be responsible for root-cause analysis of recurring or major issues identified through the service desk and customer feedback. • Identify WAN issues and assign or escalate to the appropriate department. • Own and manage major technical projects such as upgrades, new software releases and hardware swap-outs as dictated by the product development roadmap. • Manage and maintain the monitoring systems and ISP services. • Perform pro-active capacity management of network infrastructure ensuring we are able to support client growth. • Identify and respond to faults on the network and associated systems. • Develop relationships with 3rd party suppliers to manage escalations and service performance. • Manage assignment of IP addresses, configure and manage the network, set up DNS, monitoring and graphing for co-location customers. • Build and install servers, upgrade applications, and build and install network equipment. • Maintain, monitor, and manage POPs, including monitoring air-conditioning, UPS, generators, and power usage. Ensure best practice is maintained at all times to include H&S and housekeeping. • Install racks, set up power distribution, and install copper, fibre and console cabling. • Maintain the NOC Wiki, and technical documentation of processes and procedures. • Develop knowledge and skills in network and system administration. Particularly with regard to our clients own architecture and platforms. • Maintain and participate in a 24x7 call-out rota if required, be prepared to participate in scheduled maintenance and network upgrades during anti-social working hours.
The Person - Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience: • Working within telecommunication / network service provider environment, min 3yrs • Cisco router/switch configuration and management, CCNA/CCIE level, min 3yrs • Linux server/router configuration and administration, min 3yrs • Internet and connectivity technologies (WAN CPE, DNS, Email, Web hosting) • Excellent System Administration skills • Experience with shell scripting to automate daily tasks • Team leadership skills
The Package – What You Could Earn: • Basic salary up to £35,000
