| Job Title: GIS Systems Developer / Senior Engineer / GI Consultant |
| Description |
My client is looking to recruit a GI Systems Analyst / Senior Engineer / GI Consultant
Engineer/Scientist with a strong systems engineering background to work on geospatial
applications with particular knowledge of Defence and Civil Resilience domains. Reporting
to the Head of Operations or his delegated representative, the role will involve delivery of
systems engineering / consultancy in support of internal projects and directly to clients.
The main purpose of this role will be:
1. Provide technical services on projects including through9life system requirements, system design, development and support.
2. Deliver technical consultancy services to clients including reviews, analysis, research and reports.
3. Assist with business development and relationship management.
4. Act as a subject matter expert and a Company technical representative.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
1. Provide advice and expertise to customers with respect to spatial data infrastructures, SOA , Web Services and specialist GIS technologies.
2. Participate in bid preparation, helping define the scope and identify risks as well as providing technical leadership and coordination of requirements.
3. Assist in developing solutions based on the products and technologies of the company and its partners.
4. Provide a support service to clients to identify and solve problems.
5. Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant technologies, standards, specifications and industry trends especially in spatial data infrastructures, SOA, Web Services and specialist GIS technologies.
6. Undertake the analysis of technical documentation including research papers and or standards and producing summary reports, comment, conclusions and proposed actions for customers.
Inward facing Project and delivery activity such as:
1. Supporting the Project Manager in the planning and delivery of projects including attending project meetings, providing a senior project technical oversight.
2. Act as technical authority for the delivery of projects, providing leadership and guidance to the technical teams as required.
3. Responsible for analysing customer requirements, generating the system design and maintaining the integrity of the system design throughout the lifecycle of the
project.
4. Act as a System Design Authority, generating and approving specifications for the Delivery / Engineering team.
5. Take responsibility for the Management and co9ordination of System and Sub9 system requirements and co9ordinate Integration and Acceptance activities.
