Job Title: Media Buyer Planner
Description
Job Purpose:

To provide an excellent standard of Media planning/buying for our Clients through effective planning, negotiation and interpersonal skills. The ultimate aim being to enable our Clients to maximize the impact of their media campaigns through the effective use of a range of media.

To combine creative thinking with factual knowledge and research, to support the development of effective media proposals and strategies for our Clients.

To be responsible for the day to day process of delivering first class media campaigns for our Clients across all media and communication platforms (press, radio, television, outdoor, cinema and digital), that are delivered to brief, on time and to budget

To positively contribute to your team and the Agency, through demonstrating passion, innovation and integrity in your work.
Reporting Line: This role reports to Senior Media Planner/Buyer, Media Manager or Head of Media

You deliver an excellent standard of work within your role and to our Clients

You proactively work with the account teams/Clients to gain a clear understanding of the media brief, the Client objectives and their budget, prior to engaging in media recommendations or buying activity.

You take responsibility for the successful delivery of each media campaign you undertake for your account team/Client, by setting out priorities for your own area of work and the work of your reports (if appropriate). You ensure that necessary actions and tasks are undertaken by the appropriate people.

You are responsible for developing media campaigns that run to brief; so the desired media message is being seen and heard by the targeted consumers.

You are able to identify the target audience for a particular media campaign and use this knowledge to make effective planning decisions. You will also analyse the characteristics, behaviour and media habits of your target audience.

You constructively assess the different media options available in relation to a brief; weighing them up on their individual merits and to what extent they meet the original brief.

You will regularly undertake research (using a range of specialist media resources) and keep up to date with media and industry trends and use this knowledge to effectively plan media campaigns

You will collect and analyse sales and consumer data that is available

You apply your detailed knowledge of media owners in a range of geographical locations to your media planning activity.

You negotiate with media sales companies to obtain the best rates and most appropriate media spaces in online, broadcast and print advertising in response to media campaign briefs

You will co-ordinate activity to assess the effectiveness of a media campaign; presenting results and conclusions to your Clients/account teams

You attend and positively contribute to Client meetings; positioning yourself as an expert in your field and their industry.

You monitor and keep to deadlines, and proactively take action to keep work on track and implement contingency plans, as and when appropriate.

You will effectively present proposals and media and cost schedules to Clients and account teams

You will create excellent long-term working relationships with your immediate account teams and Clients, through understanding them, their business and their objectives.

You develop and maintain positive working relationships with the media including local and national newspapers, magazines, radio and television and media sales companies

You are responsible for ensuring that your account teams and Clients are kept up to date on advertising campaign progress, delivery and results.

You will professionally and efficiently answer queries and requests from the account teams/Clients, media houses, suppliers and other organisations.

You create and enhance effective communication channels with your account teams, Clients and media sources including regular face to face meetings, telephone calls and emails.

You will also strive to build a professional but social relationship with your Clients and media suppliers (where appropriate)

You ensure you have an in depth understanding and appreciation of your Client’s business, their objectives, their brands and their customers. You appreciate how your work helps your Clients to meet their objectives

You invest time in researching your Clients’ market, competitor activity and key trends and activity in the industry
